STANDARD ONE: Strategic Leadership
School executives will create conditions that result in strategically re-imaging the school's vision, mission, and goals in the 21st century. Understanding that schools ideally prepare students for an unseen but not altogether unpredictable future, the leader creates a climate of inquiry that challenges the school community to continually repurpose itself by building on its core values and beliefs about its preferred future and then developing a pathway to reach it.
A. School vision, Mission and Strategic Goals: The school’s identity, in part, is derived from the vision, mission, values, belief and goals of the school, the processes used to establish these attributes, and the ways they are embodied in the life of the school community.
Harris Creek's Mission is to work as a community to provide a positive, challenging learning environment that will educate all students to become responsible and productive citizens in a changing world.
Harris Creek is a distinguished, highly sought-after, diverse learning community where students, staff and parents collaborate to achieve high student growth and build partnerships with the greater community today to produce effective 21st century leaders tomorrow.
Each day I share positive feedback, reinforcement, and/or resources to support staff members as they attempt to adequately educate all students.
B. Leading Change: The school executive articulates a vision and implementation strategies for improvements and changes which result in improved achievement for all students.
Each month I provide practical tips on how to make equity a part of the classroom culture. I discuss instructional practices that are inclusive and give step by step guidance for how educators can achieve a balanced classroom that promotes cultural awareness and social emotional well being. These practices are then integrated throughout our MTSS.
C. School Improvement Plan: The school improvement plan provides the structure for the vision. Values, goals and changes necessary for improved achievement for all students.
I Partnered with the Intervention Team to create streamlined MTSS processes( academic, behavior, and engagement) to support core function A4.01. Also developed morning meeting SEL and PBIS reflection resources to support A4.06.
D. Distributive leadership: The school executive creates and utilizes processes to distribute leadership and decision making throughout the school.
I designated roles to guide their work with the Administration, PTSA, and various student groups around the school before student council elections. This allowed students to determine before volunteering for the role whether they felt equipped to handle the job.
